cost of the team and no revenue to cover the costs. This is less of a problem at Rum River Hills,
when a strong profit margin has been built into the event. With the event reverting to The Links
at Northfork next year, this will be a greater problem resulting in the event losing money. In
addition to the concern about teams that fail to participate, the EDC may need to do a stronger
job of requesting and acquiring door prizes. This year, we had the advantage of additional finds
to supplement the prizes that were donated. Next year, with the event at The Links, there is less
of a cushion in providing for the event to break even. In the future, these two issues will need to
be identified and solved to allow for the events long-term viability.

As many of you are aware, the City did not induct Harold Stoltz into the Ramsey Business Hall
of Fame as Mrs. Stoltz was unable to attend the event. We will take care of this induction at a
subsequent City Council meeting. The Economic Development Commission will be notified of
the date.

Case 3:

Ramsey Business Newsletter

Mr. Gromberg rated the proposed articles and layout for the second edition, for 1997, of the
Ramsey Business Newsletter. The newsletter contains the ground breakings for the new
businesses and the available classes that may be of interest to the local businesses.

Motion by Commissioner Riley and seconded by Commissioner Nelson to remove the
information about future topics and contacts for the Economic Development Commission and
replace that with an article about City Administrator Schroeder leaving the City. The publication
should then be mailed.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Wagner, Conunissioners Kent, Scheiber, Riley, and
Nelson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Anderson.

Case 4:

Review Verbiage about Highway #10 Development Plan

The EDC has been reviewing the Highway #10 Corridor to allow for a programmed
redevelopment of the area. Mr. Gromberg suggested the EDC should review what has been
determined and recommended for the different areas west of Ramsey Boulevard. It would then
be the intent to forward this information to the consultants and City Council.

The EDC discussed what they believe the next step in the process should be if the redevelopment
plan ended at this point.

Motion by Commissioner Nelson and seconded by Commissioner Riley to direct Chairperson
Wagner to draft a memo to the City Council requesting direction in the Commission's work on
the redevelopment plan for the Highway #10 Corridor and what role the EDC should play in the
development of the new Comprehensive Plan for the City of Ramsey.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Wagner, Commissioners Kent, Scheiber, Riley, and
Nelson. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Anderson.

Economic Development Commission/September 4, 1997
Page 3 of 4
