After the Commission reviewed the list of suggestions, they suggested in addition to the list of
items presented, that the involvement in the Game Fair also be terminated. The feeling of the
EDC was that the City needs to use a narrower focus of marketing activities and concentrate on
events and areas that can provide a stronger fulfillment of the goals of the City. The EDC also
requested that Mr. Gromberg draft a memorandum along these lines and forward it to each of the
EDC Commissioners for comment.

Mr. Gromberg said that he would get a draft to the Commission in the next couple of days. Mr.
Gromberg also suggested that the memorandum include an invitation to the City Council
concerning the future direction and projects that should be undertaken by the EDC.

The Commission agreed with
development of the memorandum.
minutes as Exhibit A.

this suggestion and directed Mr. Gromberg to proceed
A copy of the final draft of that document is attached to these

Case #3: Business Appreciation Day.

Mr. Gromberg informed the EDC that the letters requesting bids for the 1997 event will be sent
in the next couple of days. Commissioner Kent asked if it was still the general intent of the
Commission to rotate the event between the two golf courses. Mr. Gromberg stated that it was,
but that we want to get the best price and if it was not possible to do that, then the event may be
at the same location two years in a row. Mr. Gromberg also inquired as to how the EDC would
like to handle the cost of the event. As the members are aware, in 1996, the price was raised to
$65 per golfer. The Commission should determine if the event should stay at that cost or go back
to the original $50 per golfer.

The consensus of the Commission was to try to keep the cost as close as possible to $50 per
golfer, but to charge up to $65 per golfer, with the extra money going to increase the number of
door prizes.

Mr. Gromberg stated that he would get the bid letters out and let the EDC know the date of the
event.

STAFF UPDATES

Building Projects: The City has recently proposed on a 150,000 square
foot computer hard drive manufacturer to be located in the AEC Energy Park.
This proposal was a joint effort between the City, AEC and Kraus-Anderson
to develop a complete building project. The company will be contacting the
site finalists within the next 6 months to arrange site visits and final selection.
The company is currently developing the next generation of hard drives. In
addition the City has tentatively reach agreement with Northstar Die Casting
to construct a 30,000 square foot facility in the Ramsey Business Park.
