Another direction was through <br />advertising as part of the Lion's Picnic demonstration featuring professional boarders at <br />the June 2007 Community Picnic. To date there are no known parties 'signed up'. . <br /> <br />A developing concept is to borrow skate ramp elements and have an element of the <br />September 15th Happy Days event dedicated to skateboarding. This would be another <br />way to enlist youth in the process. However, an additional benefit would go beyond the <br />skate park planning process - to essential attract a resident demographic that may have <br />been under represented at Happy Days in the past. Two tracts are being pursued. One is <br />to borrow the equipment from the city of Anoka. Another is work with a vendor to <br />'borrow' new or used equipment. More information will be available at the meeting. <br /> <br />Skate Park component phasing <br /> <br />Throughout the planning process, and especially during the concept plan review of <br />Alpine Park, it was acknowledged that the first phase of the actual components (ramps, <br />rails etc.) may fall within or near the $75,000 (2008 CIP) estimate. Elements beyond the <br />slab for the components, will need to planned for and budgeted accordingly as part of the <br />Fall 2007, 5-year capital improvement process. This case is not intended to address the <br />larger park improvements - but rather explore what first phase elements could look like <br />(again understanding that there is a desire to involve youth in part of the actual selection <br />process).
