City Administrator Schroeder reviewed funding options for several projects including the renovation <br />ora historic school. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired regarding the estimated cost. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder advised it is about $140,000 but some of the work proposed may not <br />be necessary. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired regarding the anticipated cost for the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder explained the City does not yet have a proposal but expects one to be <br />submitted by the end of next week. He estimated the cost to be about $25,000 and noted the <br />importance of involving public input. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen suggested authorization to spend unallocated CDBG as follows: not <br />to exceed $20,000 for the Comprehensive Plan, and not to exceed $7,000 for a senior housing needs <br />assessment. <br /> <br />Finance Officer Hart noted the amount ofunallocated funds which will remain ($10,289) which could <br />be allocated at a later date. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Chairperson Beahen to recommend the City <br />Council direct staffto prepare a resolution for consideration to allocate CDBG funds for planning <br />purposes in the amount of $20,000 for Comprehensive Plan activities and $7,000 for a senior housing <br />needs assessment. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: City Administrator Schroeder reported on a grant the City received which is to <br />be used to address issues relating to the Mississippi River or planning activities if in relation to the <br />Mississippi River. He suggested a portion of these grant funds could also be expended for the <br />Comprehensive Plan review. Councilmember Haas Steffen noted the importance of meeting with the <br />public to gather their input and stated some of the basic issues within the Comprehensive Plan can <br />remain. She supported the creation of proactive suggestions on how to handle various properties. <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen stated she is unsure of what the total cost for the Comprehensive Plan <br />review will be. City Administrator Schroeder reported on the aspects which the consultant will <br />address as a priority. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Councilmembers Haas Steffen, Beahen, Beyer and Zimmerman. Voting <br />No: None.
