City Attorney Goodrich advised he thinks this is worth a step back to look at it. Councilmember Elvig commented Councilmember Dehen has expressed a good position on this. The City. will potentially be . granting a .license on this, which is completely different than most covenants they look at. Councilmember Jeffrey asked if the recommendation would be to approve the rental licenses with the exception of the Jamie Sharp property for review. City Attorney Goodrich advised the recommendation would also be that the license for the Jamie Sharp property is included on the August 28, 2007 meeting agenda for further ,action. Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to approve the rental licenses under Consent Agenda Item No.7 with the exception of the Jamie Sharp property for review, and that the rental license for the Jamie Sharp property be included on the agenda of the August 28, 2007 City Council meeting for further action. Assistant Community Development Director Frolik requested direction on whether Mr. Sharp should be required to evict his renter until this is resolved. City Attorney Goodrich indicated the situation should remain status quo atthis t~me. Mr. Martins stated he dealt with Katy atthe City. She had a good demeanor and was very straight forward in how she presented things. Sl1e was a good person to .deal with. Case #8: Consider Approval of Burns TownshiplRamsey Joint Powers Fire Protection Agreement Fire Chief Kapler stated ,the proposed Joint Powers Fire Protection Agreement (JJFP A) is the. product of many months of work and a subcommittee,between the communities of Ramsey and Bums Township. The agreement will bring an elevated level.of service to the communities of Ramsey and Bums Town~hip by using shared reSOurces for fire protection. Mr. Kapler reviewed the JJFPA. He advised the JJFPA will remain in force in perpetuity a.nd inc1udes'a termination clause. He noted the contract the City of Ramsey was pteviou.sly party to for fire protection did not include a good termination clause, and' to some extenttheie was not a friendly parting. He thinks it is important to include.a solid termination clause in this agreement so that if either community decides to go ~eir separate way there can be a friendly parting.
