CASE # 41 <br />REQUEST FOR A HOME OCCUPATION PERMIT;. <br />CASE OF JEFF ANDERSON <br />By: Tim Gladhill, Management Intern <br />Background: <br />The City has received an application from Jeff Anderson for a home occupation permit to operate <br />an alternative healing business in one (1) room of his home located at 14341 Potassium St NW. <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br />a) <br />Site location map <br />b) <br />Site layout exhibit <br />c) <br />Equipment flyer <br />d) <br />Proposed findings of fact <br />e) <br />Proposed home occupation permit <br />Notification: <br />In accordance with State statute, Staff notified property owners within 350 feet of the subject <br />property of the public hearing. <br />Observations: <br />Jeff Anderson is proposing to establish a home -based alternative healing business in his home. <br />The business, yet to be named, consists of use of a biofeedback alternative healing system. The <br />applicant is proposing to use an Evoked Potential Biofeedback System. Attached to the case is a <br />flyer describing the equipment to be used in operation of the proposed home occupation. The <br />applicant states that the system would initially only be used by family and friends. The applicant <br />anticipates, initially, approximately one (1) to three (3) clients per week. The proposed home <br />occupation will not include any non - resident employees. The two home owners will be the only <br />employees of the home occupation. <br />City Code restricts home occupations to 20% of the gross floor area of the home. The proposed <br />home occupation would be conducted in one room of the home making. up a total of 3% of the <br />gross floor area of the home. All necessary equipment and appliances are typical residential units <br />with standard voltages. There will be no exterior evidence of the business; no signs will be <br />displayed and there will be no outside storage of equipment or merchandise. . <br />Planning Commission held a Public Hearing on August 2 2007 to discuss the application for a <br />Home Occupation Permit. Planning Commission recommended that hours of operation be added <br />to the Home Occupation Permit, limiting hours of operation to 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days <br />a week. <br />—97— <br />
