C• /3
AUTHORIZE REPLACEMENT OF CARPET AT FIRE STATION 91
By: Dean Kapler, Fire Chief
Background:
In 2001 the City of Ramsey completed construction of Fire Station #1. Due to the limited space
at the existing city hall, it was decided to utilize the training room at the new fire station as a
Council chambers until such time that a new location was created. From that time until the move
into the Municipal Center, hundreds of meetings were held in the training room facility, many of
which included food and beverage being served. Through the years this type of use has taken its
toll on the carpet which is in need of replacement.
Staff has contacted two local carpet suppliers /installers and received quotes for work to be done.
Staff is recommending a transfer of $7200 from the Equipment Replacement Fund to pay for the
purchase and installation of modular carpet in the training room at Fire Station #1. It should be
noted that Fire Department staff will construct a presenter's raised platform and also remove the
existing carpet to minimize costs.
Funding:
A transfer of $7200 is being recommended from the Equipment Replacement Fund to the
Improvements Other Than Buildings (6530 -220) to cover the cost of carpet replacement.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends to council to authorize the transfer of $7200 from the Equipment. Replacement
Fund for the purposes of carpet replacement at Fire Station #1.
Council Action:
Motion to accept/reject Staff's recommendation. Also accept/reject adoption of attached
resolution #07- 08 -XXX.
Reviewed By:
Interim City Administrator
Finance Director
Fire Chief
CC: 08/14/2007
