<br />Safety Policy Summaries <br />August 13, 2007 <br /> <br />AWAIR <br /> <br />The objective of the A W AIR Program is to reduce the frequency and severity of workers' <br />compensation accidents, to comply with state and federal OSHA regulations, and to provide a <br />safe and healthy workplace. These objectives can be achieved by recognizing and managing our <br />workplace hazards and by increasing the safety awareness of all our employees. This A W AIR <br />policy is a reference for all employees of the City of Ramsey. The policies and procedures <br />contained in the A W AIR policy are to be followed by all employees. <br /> <br />This A W AIR policy contains the following provisions as required by federal law: <br /> <br />1. Identification of responsibilities at all levels of the organization for establishing, <br />measuring and maintaining the program. <br /> <br />2. Identification of methods used to identify, analyze, and control new or existing <br />hazards, conditions, and operations. <br /> <br />3. Development of a communications plan that will be used to inform employees of any <br />work-related hazards and controls. <br /> <br />4. A plan for investigating workplace injuries and describing the corrective actions that <br />will be taken. <br /> <br />5. An enforcement (disciplinary) policy. <br /> <br />*********************************************************************** <br /> <br />SAFETY PROGRAM TRAINING GUIDELINES <br /> <br />Employees will receive education or training on the A W AIR guidelines, right-to-know, <br />confined space entry, exposure control, lock out-tag out and other required OSHA <br />programs at the following times: <br /> <br />. Before an employee's initial assignment to a workplace where they may be <br />routinely exposed to a hazardous substance, harmful physical agent or infectious <br />agent; <br />. Before any new or additional hazardous substance or agent is introduced into the <br />workplace to which the employee may be routinely exposed; <br />. Training must be updated annually. Annual update training may be brief <br />summaries of information included in initial and/or previous training sessions. <br /> <br />Each division head or supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that employees are <br />adequately trained per OSHA standards.
