Staff had suggested August 14, 2007 as the event date but this date is in conflict with the
City Council meeting. Staff has contacted The Links at Northfork and has made sure that
August 21, 2007 will work. Wells Catering has committed to that date. The next step is to put
together the invitation list and to secure hole and tournament sponsors. Staff will also create a
form to be completed by people in attendance of the Business Connection Event that will allow
participants to nominate businesses for Business of the Year and to add feedback for the
Business Connection Meeting.

Motion by Member LeTourneau, seconded by Member Kiefer, to select August 21,2007 as the
date of the Business Appreciation Day Event at The Links at Northfork.

Motion carried. At this point there has not
been any confirmation by the Governor or Congressman.

Member Elvig stated he has a call in directly to the Governor on a couple of issues and he will be
seeing Congressman Oberstar next week in Washington D.C.

Member Kiefer suggested Metropolitan Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen could be of
assistance in securing the Governor or Congressman as a speaker.

Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan explained they are at a point where if a speaker is
not secured soon this event may lose some of its effectiveness because it will run close to the
Business Appreciation Day. He suggested EI Tinklenberg of The Tinklenberg Group, who is
well versed on transportation and has a great deal of information regarding the northeast
corridor, as another possible speaker for the event. Mr. Sullivan recommended the Board direct
him to secure a different speaker if the Governor or Congressman are not secured as a speaker
within two weeks.

The Board discussed EI Tinklenberg and Senator Michelle Bachmann as possible speakers for
the event.

Economic Development Authority/April 19, 2007
Page 2 of7
