Chairperson Jeffrey indicated the vacancy created by Mr. Old's positions on the Park and
Recreation Board and the EPB will be advertised.

Mr. McDilda stated he has not had a chance to talk with Mr. aIds, nor has Mr. Olds contacted
him. He inquired about the policy and whether that discussion should take place where he could
encourage Mr. aIds to apply for reappointment, or if it will go through the process with all of the
residents.

Chairperson Jeffrey indicated his position would be that at this point in time Mr. Olds could
apply like any other applicant. Tonight was the opportunity to be considered for reappointment.

Human Resources Manager Reed Kone indicated this same process was used last year in a
similar situation.

Mr. McDilda inquired about the time period for filling the vacant seats.

Human Resources Manager Reed Kone indicated she will contract Mr. McDilda with the
application deadline. information.

Councilmember Dehen stated he would like this information as well. He wants to be sure they
are getting the word out to as many people as they can.

Chairperson Jeffrey stated he agrees the Council needs to be sure they are recruiting good people
for the boards and commissions. He will mention this tonight at the City Council meeting, and
whoever holds the Council Update should announce it as well.

Councilmember Dehen inquired about the advertising that is done for the vacancies.

Human Resources Manager Reed Kone indicated the ad goes in the Ramsey Resident as required
by City Charter, and also goes into the Anoka Union, Anoka County Shopper, the City web site
and cable. The City periodically receives applications throughout the year when they are not
recruiting, and they are informed if there are vacancies they may be interested in. The
application period is usually left open for at least one month, and often longer.

Case #2:

Consider Ending the Probationary Period for a Police Records Technician

Human Resources Manager Reed Kone stated Kristen Reider has successfully completed the six-
month probationary period as a part-time Police Records Technician. Staff recommends that Ms.
Reider be removed from the probationary period and granted status as a part-time regular Police
Records Technician.

Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to recommend that the
City Council adopt the resolution that Kristen Reider be removed from the probationary period
and granted status as a part-time regular Police Records Technician.

Personnel Committee / August 28, 2007
Page 5 of6
