Absent: Councilmember Strommen. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Public Hearing: Application for Off-Sale Wine License 'Midwest Wines; <br />Case of Midwest 'Vines Inc. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec closed the regular portion of the City Council meeting at 7:08 p.m. in order to <br />conduct a public hearing. <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br /> <br />Mayor Gan1ec called the public hearing to orderat 7:08 p.m. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Interim City Administrator Nelson stated Steven and Michelle Le Roy, kno.wn as Midwest \Vines <br />Inc., have applied for an off-sale intoxicating liquor license to sell wine at 13959 St. Francis <br />Boulevard NW. This is the former Hot Stop site.. This is a request for a new business. The <br />background investigation has been completed and everything is found to be in order. Ms. Nelson <br />indicated she and Police Chief Way will stand for questions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey verified with Interim City Administrator Nelson that this is located on <br />the comer of Highway 47 and Bunker Lake Boulevard. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen questioned why the City does not require dram shops to obtain more than <br />$50,000 of liquor liability insurance. He explained based 011 personal experience, when people <br />are innocently injured, perhaps by illegal sales to minors or to a person that is intoxicated, the <br />injuries are quite often devastating and catastrophic. He feels that the requirement for $50,000 <br />requires these dram shops to have inadequate insurance.
