<br />Mayor Gamec stated this would need to be brought back to a work session in order to handle all <br />situations the same way. <br /> <br />. <br />City Attorney Goodrich advised the insurance requirements are a State requirement, and this is a <br />State application form. He will review whether the City can be more restrictive with dram shops. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated there are other cities with dram shop liability limits that are much <br />higher than $50,000. His understanding is that the $50,000 'is the minimum requirement. As a <br />policy maker, his opinion is that the City could look into having the dram shop liability limits <br />. higher to protect innocent people who are hurt and injured by drunk drivers. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec requested a work session to review the policy and the licensing requirements. <br /> <br />Interim City Administrator Nelson indicated staff will conduct research and present the <br />infonnation at a work session. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />There was none. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Ehrig, to close the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Elvig, Dehen, Look, and <br />Olson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Strommen. <br /> <br />The public hearing was closed at 7:12 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Mayor Gameccalled the regular City Council meeting back to order at7:12 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to approve an off-sale <br />intoxicating. liquor license application to sell wine for Midwest Wines, Inc., d/b/a Midwest <br />Wines. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Elvig expressed his support in Councilmember Dehen's <br />request to review the City policy in relation to liability insurance. Councilmember Jeffrey asked <br />if license renewals would be required to hold a higher level of liability insurance if it were <br />determined to change the liability policy. City Attorney Goodrich replied yes, this specific <br />license is new; most licenses are valid July 1 st through June 30th. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Dehell, Elvig, Jeffrey, Look, <br />Olson, and Strommen.
