~ Public Notice Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Assistance Available Are you having trouble making your mortgage payment? Are you worried about losing your home? Foreclosure rates are rising throughout the metro area. In 2006, sixty Ramsey homes went through the foreclosure process, compared wi th sixty-four in Anoka, sixty -eight in Andover and 181 in Coon Rap- ids. In Ramsey alone, twenty-nine foreclosures had already been initi- ated by the end of April 2007. Home foreclosures can hurt neighborhoods as properties sit vacant while going through the foreclosure process. The Anoka County Com- munity Action Program (ACCAP) Foreclosure Prevention Program as- sists homeowners throughout Anoka County in developing plans to stabi- lize their household financial situa- tion in an effort to avoid foreclosure and keep their home. The Program helps homeowners address the cause of their mortgage delinquency and teaches them to manage their finances successfully. The Foreclosure Preven- tion Program helps homeowners understand the foreclosure process and determine appropriate options. Assistance negotiating with mortgage companies is also provided. As a last resort, in some situ- ations, the program may be able to provide a deferred, 0% interest loan to a homeowner to reinstate the mort- gage default and assist them in avoid- ing the foreclosure. The program attempts to bring long term stability to the family's housing situation. Learn how your family could own a home with 0% interest. Come to an Orien- tation Session at 6:00 pm on Wednes- day, October 17,2007 in the Alex- ander Ramsey Room of the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW. At the orientation, there will be staff present from Habitat for Humanity to tell you more about their organization, how to qualify for a Habitat home, and assist you with submission of a pre-application. Current housing opportunities exist in Ramsey, Min- neapolis, St. Paul, Brooklyn Park and Oakdale. The orientation presentation takes about 20 minutes. You must ar- rive by 6:00 pm and hear the full pre- sentation in order to submit a pre-ap- plication. There will not be childcare available. Fall Water Main Flushing in October The city of Ramsey Utility Department will be doing their semi- annual water main flushing beginning Monday, October 8 through October 24. Please be aware that this flush- ing, while it is necessary, will create a disturbance in the system causing low pressure and it may cause your water to be discolored. Although the water may be discolored by iron, it is fit for human consumption. It may, however, stain clothes that are being washed. To alleviate this problem, you may want to fill your washer with water and checl( on its clarity before adding your clothes.
