~ .

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood noted Civil Engineer II Linton did most of the engineering
on the trail and the trail is in place.

· Fox Park Boardwalk Replacement

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated the boardwalk was tough to complete and they
straightened the four foot sections. He stated they are reusing almost every single component to
use as the base for what they are going to put over the top of it.

· Explore Park Acquisitions

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated there are two acquisitions they may explore at a staff
level. One is along Alpine Drive east of Armstrong Boulevard. This is a large wetland area and
in the future when the trail system is built out they can use that area for a park area. The other is
along the Mississippi River, south of Armstrong Boulevard and it was supposed to be dedicated
to Alpaca Development. It is an outlot and the person is seeking to get that converted to a
buildable lot but the City could try to acquire it for park land along Mississippi River.

· Status of Park Planning - Sunfish Lake

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood thought this would be in the agenda for October to discuss.

· Rhinestone Commons

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated the City Administrator was able to go to the fee title
owner and get an easement recorded at the County so the public is able to use it including the
Pact Charter School.

· In House City Recreation Coordinator

Commissioner Barr thought it would be a good idea to have a City based recreation scheduling
system.

· Master Naturalist Program given by the University of Minnesota

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated the U of M and MN DNR have developed a system
like many other states and is a Master Naturalist Program. This program is for people interested
in learning more about nature and to become more involved. He stated if Ramsey were to host a
class they would get $50 per person of the fees back to the City. Average age is 56 years. He
stated he was approved last week to be a Master Naturalist Instructor.

Commissioner Shryock stated the swing is broken on the boardwalk on Flintwood Terrace and
she wondered if the spinner at Titterud Park has been measured for the distance to the rocks
because it can be dangerous.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated it has but he would confirm it.
Park and Recreation Commission/September 13, 2007
Page 5 of 6
