Motion carried. V oting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Councilmembers Olson and Dehen. Voting
No: None.

Case #6:

Consider Rum River. Hills Golf Course Drainage Improvements

Chair Elvig stated that this item would be tabled until the October 16, 2007 meeting.

Case #7:

Receive Petition to Install Stop Signs at Riverdale Drive and Alpaca Street

City Engineer Jankowski advised that a petition was received dated August 1, 2007 which was
signed by nine residents of the Alpaca Estates subdivision located south of Riverdale Drive
requesting that Stop signs be placed on the east and west legs of the intersection of Alpaca Street
and Riverdale Drive. On April 14, 2007 a new policy was adopted for reviewing traffic
modification requests. That policy requires that five property owners within a distance of 500
feet be required to consider a traffic modification request such as this petition. The petition
received contains nine signatures from property owners in the neighborhood, however only one
of these petitioning properties is within this 500 foot. He stated that of the total 13 eligible
properties within the 500 foot distance, one property is vacant while six others are in a single
ownership. He stated that even though the petition does not meet the requirements of the City
policy staff recommends that an investigation be conducted to determine whether it is
appropriate to place Stop signs for east and westbound Riverdale Drive at the intersection with
Alpaca Street.

Councilmember Dehen asked how much staff time would be needed to satisfy this request. He
stated that he feels that if the residents want a stop sign, he does not understand why the City
cannot let them have one.

Public Works Director Olson stated that the City needs to do due diligence in order to support
the placement of the stop sign. He reviewed some of the information that will be studied to
. make this determination.

Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to recommend to the
City Council that staff be directed to conduct an investigation to determine whether it is
appropriate to place Stop signs for east and westbound Riverdale Drive at the intersection with
Alpaca Street.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Councilmembers Olson and Dehen. Voting
No: None.

Case #8:

Request by James Provinzino to Purchase Remnant Parcel Owned by the
City

City Engineer Jankowski reviewed that at the January 16, 2007 Public Works Committee
meeting the City discussed a December 21, 2006 letter from Mr. James Provinzino requesting

Public Works Committee / September 18, 2007
Page 20 of 23
