In response to Lori Schulz, Mr. Kurak stated he will make no profit from the mining and all money
will go back into the final project.

Dick Anderson, 15111 Sodium Street, stated they were aware this would be developed at some point
and they do not oppose progress but are concerned about why this project would take place for
mining only and not mining and development under one plan.

Mr. Anderson stated that in order to make a wise decision he hopes the Planning Commission will
request a preliminary development plan of what the end result will be when the property is divided
into parcels for residential development.

Mr. Anderson asked what happens if Mr. Kurak does not complete the residential development.
Acting Chairman Deemer stated they will be left with a flat piece of ground with grass on it.

Mr. Anderson asked who will manage the project and assure adequate financing to complete it if Mr.
Kurak does not do so. City Engineer Jankowski stated the permit will be for a duration of three years
and only five acres will be disturbed at a time. Also a 4:1 minimum slope needs to be placed on the
final grades.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Commissioner Thorud and seconded by Commissioner Terry to close the public hearing.

Motion carried.
