Ray Kellas <br />44854 Erin St <br />Plymouth, MI 48170 <br /> <br />March 26, 1997 <br /> <br />city of Ramsey <br />Planning Commission <br />15153 Nowthen Boulevard.N.W. <br />Ramsey, Mn 55303 <br /> <br />Dear Sir/Madam, <br /> <br />I am writing in response to the Notice of Public Hearing on the Tom <br />Kurak property for a conditional use permit to mine and export <br />800,000 cubic yards of earth material from his property at 15001 <br />Sunfish Lake Boulevard. <br /> <br />I am requesting that my comments be read and made part of the <br />record so people in attendance will know what our concerns are. <br /> <br />My wife and I own approximately a 3 1/2 acre lakefront parcel that <br />is located a little South and West of Mr. Kurak's property. We have <br />owned our property for over 20 years. <br /> <br />I am requesting that the planning commission deny this request for <br />a conditional use permit for the following reasons: <br /> <br />Removing earth material will ruin the integrity of the <br />existing shoreline and must not be allowed. <br /> <br />2. zoning is in place to protect property owners from <br /> u~wanted uses. <br /> <br />If my memory serves me correctly, Mr. Kurak's property <br />should be able to accommodate residential development <br />with modest earth balancing and grading to accomplish the <br />development. <br /> <br />Removal of 800,000 cubic yards of material from this <br />property appears to be motivated purely for profit and <br />would not enhance the residential community. <br /> <br /> <br />
