Appendix B <br />Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is proud to support communities as they work to improve <br />the health of Minnesotans. This document describes the general guidelines that community funding <br />recipients should follow when communicating with the media or public regarding Blue Cross,. <br />Prevention Minnesota and /or Active Community Planning. <br />General Guideline <br />Active Community Planning is a community -led program that Blue Cross is proud to support. As <br />such, the majority of public communications are at the discretion of the community organization. <br />That is, your organization will decide whether, when, how and with whom to share information <br />about your program. <br />Blue Cross does require funded organizations to identify Blue Cross in certain situations, using <br />specific language. Approval for this is described below. <br />C ommunications Reguiring Blue Cross Approval <br />Any materials (correspondence, media, advertisements, brochures, etc.) that: <br />• Use the Blue Cross name and /or logo <br />• Include a quote from or an image of a Blue Cross representative <br />• Use language explaining the intent of Blue Cross' programming <br />_Co mmunications Not Requiring Blue Cross A pproval <br />• Materials and announcements that do not mention Blue Cross <br />• Press announcements or correspondence that use standardirequired language (see below). <br />If possible, please provide us a copy of your news release prior to announcing. <br />• Promotional materials used to recruit program participants (that do not mention Blue Cross) <br />Referencing Blue Cross <br />When referencing Blue Cross in materials: <br />• First reference: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, an independent licensee of the <br />Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. <br />• Subsequent references: Blue Cross <br />Use of Blue Cross Logo <br />Contractors may not use the Blue Cross logo in any situation without prior approval and signed <br />authorization.
