REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS <br />By: Public. Works Staff <br />CASE # <br />Background: <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 and discussed the following <br />nine cases: <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br />Case #1 Consider Request for Stop Signs at Alpaca Street and Riverdale'`Drive <br />Background: <br />After .receiving a petition from residents, the City Council directed staff to .conduct an <br />investigation to determine whether it would be appropriate to place stop signs on any legs of the <br />intersection of Alpaca Street and Riverdale Drive. As part of the review, the accident history <br />was reviewed. Looking back 5 years from January 1, 2007, there were no reported accidents at <br />the intersection, however, area residents have noted that there have been several near misses. <br />Traffic counts were taken on October 8, 2007. The results of this traffic volume study are as <br />follows: <br />Daily Peak <br />Street Leg. Traffic Hour <br />Alpaca North 231 23 <br />.Alpaca South 118 12 - <br />Riverdale East 193 19 <br />Riverdale West 353 35 <br />Intersection 448 45 <br />Motion to recommend to monitor the speeds with the radar trailer for 30 days and review the <br />placement of the speed limit signs, and if speed limits are not posted, to .post them to also notify <br />the petitioners of the action the City is taking regarding their request for stop signs at Alpaca <br />Street and Riverdale Drive. <br />Action: <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br />Case #2 Consider Request for Fence along CSAH S Trail <br />Background: <br />At the September 18, 2007 Public Works Committee meeting, Ron Whaley who resides at 5650 <br />149t'' Lane had expressed his concern about the completion of the trail near his home along <br />' -127- <br />
