6hfr Brian Olson
~~tober 31; 2007
~,; page 2
funded railroad crossing improvement as a separate project and the City would proceed with the roadway
project on its own. I would recommend to our Board that we make no other improvements to Sunfish Lake
Boulevard, the turnback occur immediately, and that the County continue to fulfill its financial commitment to
the City per the JPA.
We are nearing the end of the design of this project and need to proceed to the bid letting and eventual
construction in August 2008. We are anticipating submitting the 100% plans to MnDOT in November for final
approval and Project Authorization. This is a very important date for us. If we do not keep the project moving
forward we are in danger of losing the Federal Funds for the railroad crossing and losing the Cooperative
Agreement funds from MnDOT for the reconstruction of the traffic signal at TH 10.
It is essential that we move this project forward one way or another as quickly as possible. If you have any
questions, please let me know. I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Dou~las W. Fischer, PE
County Engineer
DWF:sh

-258-
