Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to direct City. staff to <br />begin the process of holding a public hearing for, a comprehensive plan amendment to low <br />density housing for the subject property. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Jeffrey,. Dehen, Look, <br />Olson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br />Mayor Gamec recessed the City Council meeting at 9:11 p.in. and reconvened at 9:17 p.m. <br />Case #8s Request for Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Case of Sunfish Lake. <br />Development, LLC <br />Community Development Director Trudgeon slated that Cases ~~, ~9, rl ~ rind rl l are•all related <br />to the same project. He toted that previous. City Cotulcil discussion focused on the possibility of <br />creating an L shaped building... He stated that this p~>>5ibilit~~ was discussed ~~ ith the applicant <br />and the applicant. stated that this would involve chan~,n,T the plat and would make it more <br />difficult to utilize the property. He stated that the applicant. is reduesting that he be allowed to <br />proceed with the building as presented. Communit<< De~•elopmeitt Director Trudgeon stated that <br />he had also raised the subject of the futtzrc raised medians Hear this site and notifying future <br />tenants. He noted a letter included in the p~lchct that outlines this request and that this be <br />communicated with future tenants. He shop°;ed the ori~7ii~al architectural drawings submitted by <br />the applicant and the revised drawings that show some features on the rear of the building, such <br />`as windows, pillars and different eolorillg that they Cite Council requested to help. make it more <br />attractive. He stated that staff f~ els there are some additional improvements that could be made <br />such as decorative awnings and signaae that would niakz this~more visually attractive. _ <br />Councilmember Jeffrey slated that he feels. the rewiseel~plans are much better because this is a <br />premier corner in the. City. He stated that he would like to see what the second building. on the <br />site will be 6ecal~se it will ve lookill~;~ at the back of this building. He asked about the location <br />and quaniity,of trash enclosures. <br />a <br />Mile, ~~avman of Sunfish Lake Development, LLC, stated-that there will be two dumpsters at <br />the rear of the building. <br />C~~nmuuity Development Du~ector Trudgeon stated that by City Code, these dumpsters must be <br />screened.. <br />Councilmemb~r Jeffrc~- asked a;ain why the City Council wasn't looking at the second building <br />so there is a nice c~iviron~mentcoming from all directions. <br />Mr. Wayman stated that. financially, he cannot afford to build the second building until the first <br />building has been built 'and has tenants.
