Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to direct City. staff to begin the process of holding a public hearing for, a comprehensive plan amendment to low density housing for the subject property. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Jeffrey,. Dehen, Look, Olson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. Mayor Gamec recessed the City Council meeting at 9:11 p.in. and reconvened at 9:17 p.m. Case #8s Request for Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Case of Sunfish Lake. City Cotulcil discussion focused on the possibility of creating an L shaped building... He stated that this p~>>5ibilit~~ was discussed ~~ ith the applicant and the applicant. stated that this would involve chan~,n,T the plat and would make it more difficult to utilize the property. He stated that the applicant. is reduesting that he be allowed to proceed with the building as presented. Communit<< De~•elopmeitt Director Trudgeon stated that he had also raised the subject of the futtzrc raised medians Hear this site and notifying future tenants. He noted a letter included in the p~lchct that outlines this request and that this be communicated with future tenants. He shop°;ed the ori~7ii~al architectural drawings submitted by the applicant and the revised drawings that show some features on the rear of the building, such `as windows, pillars and different eolorillg that they Cite Council requested to help. make it more attractive. He stated that staff f~ els there are some additional improvements that could be made such as decorative awnings and signaae that would niakz this~more visually attractive. _ Councilmember Jeffrey slated that he feels. the rewiseel~plans are much better because this is a premier corner in the. City. He stated that he would like to see what the second building. on the site will be 6ecal~se it will ve lookill~;~ at the back of this building. He asked about the location and quaniity,of trash enclosures. a Mile, ~~avman of Sunfish Lake Development, LLC, stated-that there will be two dumpsters at the rear of the building. C~~nmuuity Development Du~ector Trudgeon stated that by City Code, these dumpsters must be screened.. Councilmemb~r Jeffrc~- asked a;ain why the City Council wasn't looking at the second building so there is a nice c~iviron~mentcoming from all directions. Mr. Wayman stated that. financially, he cannot afford to build the second building until the first building has been built 'and has tenants.
