Volunteer Recognition Banquet <br /> <br />The Volunteer Recognition Banquet was held on Monday, April 29, 1996, at Majestic Oaks. <br />There were in excess of 60 people attending. <br /> <br />The total cost of the banquet, not including staff time for coordinating the event, was $1,274.92. <br />These costs included invitations [postage and printing] dinner [meals, tax and gratuities] <br />decorations, and door prizes. <br /> <br />This amount was provided from the 1996 Council Contingency through a budget amendment. <br /> <br />1996 Tree Sale <br /> <br />The 1996 Tree Sale [22nd annual] minus the Environmental Expo, was held on Saturday, May 4, <br />1996, in the parking lot at Ramsey Elementary School. For a change, the weather was <br />spectacular - not rain or snow as in past years. The vendors felt that plant sales were reasonable <br />to good and indicated interest in returning for this event next year. <br /> <br />As in past years, seedlings provided by the Department of Natural Resources [DNR] were <br />distributed free of charge. Approximately 1,200 seedlings, comprised of white spruce, norway <br />pine, yellow birch and tamaracks, were given away to residents <br /> <br />The City realized the donation of a number of trees from vendors participating in the event. <br />These donated plant materials have been planted in and around the municipal campus and consist <br />of red diamond plum, sugar maple, butternut, river birch, mugho pine, bur oak, prairie fire apple, <br />royal red maple and gingko. <br /> <br />Costs incurred in conjunction with this event was comprised solely of staff time preparing and <br />hosting the event. The total staff time incurred on the day of the event amounted to <br />approximately $150.00. <br /> <br />1996 Becky Weiss Memorial Bike Road-co <br /> <br />The sixth annual Becky Weiss Memorial Bike Road-eo was held on Saturday, May 4, 1996, at <br />the Municipal Center. As in recent years, this event was a big success with 400 children <br />participating and more parents observing. The weather, which threatened to be wet, turned out to <br />be wonderful with sunny skies and a light breeze. There were numerous donations including <br />cash and prizes from a variety of individuals and organizations. Prizes included a variety of <br />items for "door-prizes", 12 bicycles, and the annual tickets to a Twins game. <br /> <br />The event started with a cash balance of $3,676.50. Donations and registrations for the 1996 <br />event totaled $6,094.55 [which includes $1,000 from the Lions] and expenditures were <br />approximately $6,694.51 [two billings not yet received]. The anticipated carry forward balance <br />for 1997 will be approximately $3,076.54. <br /> <br /> <br />
