#

APPROVE MN/DOT PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR
TRUNK HIGHWAY #47 WORK SCHEDULED FOR 1999
By: Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

On Tuesday, October 29, 1996, Mn/DOT conducted an informational meeting at Ramsey
Municipal Center for the work planned for 1999 on Trunk Highway #47. Preliminary plans were
available for citizens to review.

This work includes the addition of turn and bypass lanes at 156th Lane, 160th Avenue, 164th
Lane, 169th Avenue, 177th Avenue, 179th Lane (County Road #63), and 180th Lane/Iodine
Street. The existing bridges at Trott and Ford Brooks will be replaced as well as four smaller
culverts, one south of 172nd Lane, one just north of 167th Avenue, one just north of 160th
Avenue, and the final one just north of C.S.A.H. 5. The work will also include a final overlay of
the entire section of roadway between C.S.A.H. 5 and the northern City limits. Mr. Larry
Phillips, Project Engineer, has requested that the City pass a resolution approving the preliminary
plans. It should be noted that the improvements do not include turn and bypass lanes at 152nd
Avenue as this access point is planned to be phased out at some point in the future, although not
as a part of this project.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends approval of the preliminary plans for the Trunk Highway #47 project
scheduled for 1999.

Committee Action:

Motion to recommend that City Council adopt Resolution #96-11-XXX approving preliminary
plans for the 1999 Trunk Highway #47 work.

Reviewed by:
City Engineer

RB:I 1/12/96
