Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Peterson, Beahen, Beyer and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS/PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />Case #1: 1996 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained that the estimated allocation for Ramsey for 1996 is <br />$34,769 plus there is $4,009 in unallocated I995 funds that have to be addressed. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin closed the regular portion of the City Council meeting at 7:04 p.m. in order to <br />conduct the public hearing. <br /> <br />Public Hearine <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin called the public hearing to order at 7:04 p.m. <br /> <br />Citizen lnoot <br /> <br />Maggie Novak, Meals on Wheels, was present thanking Council for its support in the past and to <br />ask for a donation of $3,733. She presented statistics with regard to the number of Ramsey <br />residents helped out by her organization. <br /> <br />Julie Brown, Rise, requested $3,000 to go toward the purchase of a van. She noted that Ramsey <br />had supported Rise's request in 1994 and 1995. <br /> <br />Erika Gilbertson, Northwest Suburban Kinship, Inc., explained that her organization is a mentor <br />program that works with youth ages 3 to 17. She requested $500 in funds to assist in expanding <br />their services to Ramsey. <br /> <br />Kathy Weidman, ACCAP, stated that her organization is an outreach program for seniors and <br />adults. Right now the program is assisting 35 people in Ramsey which requires and additional 32 <br />follow-up visits. She added that 145 referrals were made to over 42 agencies. <br /> <br />Todd Paulson, CEAP, thanked the City for its past assistance and requested $2,000 for this year. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik explained that due to modification at the County .level, Ramsey is not guaranteed to <br />have the $34,000 allocated for 1995 to spend. We may have to carry over any projects until 1997. <br /> <br />Council suggested that a meeting be scheduled with the County to resolve this issue. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Peterson, Beahen and Zimmerman offered to serve on a task force/committee to <br />meet with the County. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to recommend <br />allocation of the $4,000 and that a meeting be held with the County to discuss the $34,000. <br /> <br />City Council/January 23, 1996 <br /> Page 4 of 15 <br /> <br /> <br />
