Voting No: None. <br /> <br />The public hearing closed at 7:20 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin called the regular portion of the City Council meeting back to order at 7:20 p.m. <br /> <br />Case #2: Request to Rezone Certain Property from Industrial to R.1 Urban <br /> Residential; Case of Good Value Homes <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained that the City has received an application from Good Value <br />Homes to rezone approximately 85 acres located east of Rarnsey Boulevard and north of Industry <br />Avenue from Industrial to Residential. The plat submitted proposes to be developed entirely with <br />single family homes. At the public hearing conducted by the Planning Commission, a few citizens <br />were in favor of the rezoning but were concerned with the urban density proposed. She added that <br />Mr. John Peterson was present to answer any questions. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich pointed out that a rezoning requires a 4/5 vote of the Council; however, the <br />ordinance presented could be introduced with a simple majority vote. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman expressed concern about the balance of residential versus <br />industrial/commercial. He suggested voting on this at another meeting as he is still awaiting some <br />information. <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson wanted to continue on as he felt the information requested by <br />Councilmember Zimmerman had been supplied to him earlier this evening. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to adopt Resolution <br />g96-01-027 adopting Findings of Fact g0391 relating to a request form Good Value Homes to <br />rezone certain property from Industrial to R-1 Urban Residential. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Zimmerman again questioned if there is a proper mix and <br />added that this issue has been talked about from time to time. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Peterson and Beahen. Voting No: <br />Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to inu'oduce the <br />ordinance to rezone the proposed plat of Pondview to R-1 Urban Residential. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Peterson and Beahen. Voting No: <br />Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />John Peterson, Good Value Homes, stated they would be willing to offer the City additional time; <br />however, he expressed surprise that there were still issues. <br /> <br />City Council/January 23, 1996 <br /> Page 5 of 15 <br /> <br /> <br />
