This will be brought back to the April 23, 1996 meeting.

Case #4 - 18:

1996 Annual Street Maintenance Program

City Engineer Jankowski stated that the City performed its first sealcoating work in 1981 and has
had an annual program for addressing the routine maintenance needs of its paved streets since that
time. The City has a considerable investment in the nearly 125 miles of paved roadway for which
it is responsible. It is estimated that the replacement cost, excluding curb, gutter, drainage, and
tuff restoration approaches $10 million. He summarized the City's goal of reapplying a sealcoat to
any new pavement or overlay after a period of five years and to reseal or overlay as needed at
seven-year succeeding intervals. This year's program consists entirely of crack filling, followed
by sealcoating, of over 20 miles of streets. The 1996 program consists of 15 individual projects
which have similar lot sizes and pavement conditions.

Mayor Hardin adjourned the regular portion of the City Council meeting at 7:40 p.m. in order to
conduct the public hearings.

Public Hearine

g96-01: Windsorwood Addition

Mayor Hardin called the public hearing to order at 7:40 p.m.

Presentation

City Engineer Jankowski explained that this is a relatively new area and has never been sealed.
The fn'st seal is scheduled after five years and then seven years thereafter.

Citizen Input

None.

Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to close the public
heating.

Motion carried.
