Merle Mevissen: We have plenty of room.

Mr. Delaney: Control on 161st would be the most imperative.

Resident: 161st was the worst. They were parking on the boulevard. The people who wanted to
walk from Central Park they had to walk on the road - and their dogs. I parked cars in my yard on
Kangaroo. I keep it a car length off the road. The boulevard is the biggest problem.

Mr. Delaney: Signage may be the thing that is needed.

Councilmember Zimmerman: Mr. Thorud's basic problem is his assessment. The unfortunate
thing about 161st is you have the park on one side with no one to take the other part of the
assessment. We can look into that on the Road and Bridge Committee and see if we cannot get
these assessments in line.

Mr. Thorud: The City did participate.

Resident: I feel the assessment is high for that amount of traffic. That does not include what's
generated by the RYAA. We feel we are assessed extremely high.

Councilmember Zimmerman: We will look at that.

Resident: It was over $500.00.

Councilmember Zimmerman: We looked at it but I am not sure what happened. We will look at it
again.

Police Chief Auspos: The City's ordinance prohibits parking and driving on the boulevard. A
person would have to use the driveway only. As far as parking on the street, the City Engineer can
post that but the City may have to change the ordinance to post the entire neighborhood.

Resident: If it says no parking in front of the park, is that all year.

Chief Auspos: Yes.

Resident: That should be checked into; it's being abused.

Resident: I live on property that was on the air strip. We bought it in 1987. The first few years
there used to be big signs that said "no through street - residential traffic only". I do not know
when they took that away. Last year, parking was terrible. I feel the Police Department should
have been ticketing some of those cars.

Mr. Delaney: We had a sign for years, but unfortunately, it was completely ignored.

Resident: There was a guy there who used to check addresses.

Mr. Delaney: Would it help if we gave residents a residential tag to hang on their mirror?

Resident: I do not feel that would be a problem. I would be against people not being able to park
on my land. I agree 161st got way out of line. I am against cars being run down the boulevard
and so many people having to walk down the road.

Game Fair Neighborhood Meeting/March 28, 1996
Page 2 of 7
