with no garage, the driveway is restricted to 20 feet in width. <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer stated the intent of the registration requirement was to prevent a situation such as <br />the one on County Road 56, where an auto dealer is working out of a residential property. <br />Councilmember Beyer stated that it would not work to write a general code for the entire City, and there <br />needed to be definition for general versus the specific. <br /> <br />Commissioner Holland clarified the two issues were the registration language and the vehicle size. He <br />verified that the smaller the vehicle, the more accepted it is, and that there needed to be a specific size <br />restriction. Commissioner Holland added that most felt the van size commercial vehicle in the driveway <br />was acceptable and a 20-foot length restriction would cover that. Commissioner Holland proposed that <br />Planning Commission members take time between meetings to think about these issues and put their ideas <br />in writing. Chairperson Bawden stated that he would like to see specific suggestions. <br /> <br />Commissioner Jensen stated that she liked Bloomington's ordinance. Commissioner Deemer asked if <br />another Public Hearing would be necessary if more changes are made. Councilmember Beyer asked how <br />people were notified of the Public Heating. Ms. Frolik stated that for the second public hearing, a legal <br />notice in the newspaper and the city newsletter; the first public hearing include mailed notices to persons <br />on record as being interested in this issue. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman suggested that the ordinance be made less restrictive and add issues as they <br />come up. Chairperson Bawden stated that the vast majority &people who attend meetings are happy <br />with what the Planning Commission has come up with, and not all people's needs can be met. <br />Commissioner Deemer added that what the Planning Commission has come up with is far less restrictive <br />than what the current ordinance reads. Commissioner Holland clarified what the two issues at hand were <br />and proposed Commission members put their ideas in writing. <br /> <br />Commissioner Terry asked what the intent of the ordinance is. Commissioner Deemer stated that the <br />registration language was inserted to eliminate the storage of vehicles for friends and relatives. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer suggested separate language be written for renters. Commissioner Deemer <br />explained that legally, the vehicle must be registered to that address within 30 days. <br /> <br />Commissioner Thorud questioned if the definition of commercial vehicle includes equipment such as a <br />backhoe, bobcat, loader, or only highway use vehicles. Councilmember Zimmerman explained equipment <br />would require screening. Commiss~bner Thorud asked about farm equipment restrictions. Commissioner <br />Holland explained farm equipment was excluded. Commissioner Terry asked about restrictions for farm <br />tractor collectors. Ms. Frolik stated that would be treated no different than a car collector. <br /> <br />COUNCIL/COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />Chairperson Bawden asked if there were any other items of interest from Council.
