Motion by Counciimember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to ratify the purchase
agreement for the D.A.R.E. House.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen and Zimmerman.
Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberPeterson.

Mr. Schroeder reported that the expected closing date is October 31, but it will more likely happen
about mid-November. They have agreed to push the closing back a week.

Councilmember Beyer asked if it's possible to tour the house and be there to greet the buyers.

Mr. Schroeder responded that we have discussed conducting the closing at the house and doing a
news release.

Mayor Hardin stated that Jim Singewald had talked about having an open house so all the people
who donated things could see the home.

Councilmember Beyer stated that after the purchase agreement has been approved, she would not
want to buy a house that had been traipsed through.

Mr. Schroeder stated that the buyers would be checked with first.

MAYOR/COUNCIL INPUT

1 ) Police Building

Mr. Schroeder stated that the dedication on the Police Department building will be sometime in
December. The building itself is scheduled to be finished by November 1, however, Denny Sharp
thinks it will be November 6 or so, before it will be dust-free. We will schedule the computer
move for then. Chief Auspos will be out for about six weeks for back surgery so we are talking
about the first week in December for that dedication.

Councilmember Beyer asked if it was being planned for a Saturday.

Mr. Schroeder replied that Police Secretary Arlene Stafford asked about a Thursday evening with
hours open to the public and then after those hours have a City celebration with City staff and their
families. He stated that Council would be updated as the plans become more concrete.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to adjourn the
meeting.

Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen, Zimmerman and Beyer.
Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberPeterson.

The special meeting of the City Council adjourned at 5:29 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Jo/ql'hi-elin~ .... ~.. ........ /)-7c--
[.._...j~ecording Secretary ~//

City Administrator

City Council/Special Meeting/October 18, 1996
Page 2 of 2
