Mr. Schroeder - We are using interest - no principal. The f'n'st couple of years we used $120,000
in interest.

Jan Reiter - how much will this proposed park cost.'?

Mr. Schroeder o About $1 million.

John C. Peterson - That's why I see development of this land as a drop in the bucket. It's not an
ideal space for homes with the landfill right there.

Mr. Schroeder - It's becoming a grassy knoll.

Betty Olesen - What will be done with the landf~l?

Mr. Schroeder - It will stay just as it is. The Pollution Control Agency and Waste Management
will keep people off of it.

Jan Reiter - There's nothing we can do to stop the City from developing this area.

Mr. Schroeder - I would be interested in seeing that deed restriction (mentioned by Ms. Olesen).
As far as stopping the City - I feel this park would be a great amenity.

John C. Peterson - We are not against the park.

Mr. Schroeder - But you mentioned a buffer from the park.

John C. Peterson - There will be lighting, etc.

Mr. Schroeder - It's graded so that if the fields are lit, the lights will reflect primarily into the hill.
That was done intentionally to try to take care of what we thought a neighborhood concern might
be.

Mr. Boos - In terms of lighting, it's changed from ten years ago. It may not be a big imposition.

Mr. Schroeder - It appears that folks are concerned about the natural screening and the preservation
of the trees that are there. We will not be able to preserve all the trees.

The residents present understood that.

Tom Gamec- They could be moved and a bigger buffer could be put on the back line.

Mr. Schroeder - We have talked about an open space where the trees are. If the neighborhood
wanted to propose having screening between the existing and the new neighborhood, we could ask
for that.

John C. Peterson - That would make sense.

Tom Gamec- It would be easy to do.

Phillip Oredson - I came mainly to see about the multiple housing that was talked about in the
newspaper. I feel single family homes are okay. We are used to seeing pine trees, but it's okay.

Alpine Neighborhood Meeting/October 24, 1996
Page 4 of 7
