Betty Olesen - We bought (our home) in 1994 and it's in our abstract that this is a buffer zone and
will not be developed.

Mr. Schroeder - I haven't heard anything about this not being able to be developed - I would like to
see your abstract.

Betty Olesen - I was asking Jan why the slue is drained.

Mr. Boos - It's from a combination of the drought and the de-watering from a nearby project - it
pulled some of the water out but it will be restored.

Jan Reiter - It's never been dry before.

Mr. Boos - It should come back naturally.

Jan Reiter - A lot of our concern is where does the walk way run.

Mr. Boos - It was put there in this plan because it's a centralized area. As it relates to the crossing
of the road, it could be put anywhere. This is proposed as a concept.

Mr. Schroeder - Are you in favor of it or opposed to it?

Jan Reiter - That depends on where it ends up.

Mr. Boos - commented about a sliding hill. It will not be a magnificent hill for skiing but would be
good for sliding.

Mr. Schroeder - A pedestrian bridge is terribly expensive. I would think we would have higher
priorities.

Jan Reiter - Do you need it if there is no parking across 153rd?

Park Commissioner Reid Droegemueller - It all depends on how you feel about children crossing
153rd. We want to make this as safe as possible.

Jan Reiter- I agree with you.

Mr. Droegemueller - It's only in the middle as a concept at this point.

Mr. Schroeder - What eventually occurs may look different from the concept shown here.

Mr. Boos - The path and pedestrian bridge will not happen soon.

Tom Gamec - I think it would be better to keep everything on one side so you don't have little kids
crossing the road.

Mr. Boos - That's why we cannot bisect the park on 153rd.

John C. Peterson - Is there Landfill dollars left over to develop this park.

Mr. Schroeder - The City Council has been allocating Landfill dollars toward park development.

Councilmember Zimmerman - We have been spending $250,000 a year for the past three years for
park development.

Alpine Neighborhood Meeting/October 24, 1996
Page 3 of 7
