Mr. Schroeder - I think that City Council is more interested in single family homes.

Councilmember Zimmerman - The feeling on the City Council is they were not supportive of multi-
family.

Betty Olesen, 15310 Zirconium Street NW, Ramsey, - Instead of more houses, couldn't it be more
picnic areas?

Mr. Schroeder - The reason it's proposed this way is we do not have any money to develop this
park and the sale of this land would provide a way to develop it.

Jan Reiter - what would the lot size be?

Mr. Schroeder - In the letter we sent out to the developers, we did not provide any guidelines. We
would expect that the proposals we get back would have a good share of the homes using the lot
size minimum. We have encouraged developers to expand lot sizes on the north side.

Jan Reiter - They would have to tear all these beautiful evergreens out.

Mr. Schroeder - If they develop to the fullest capacity, it could happen that some of the trees would
be taken out; however, we have codes that deal with tree preservation.

Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor - The north side is not really usable for athletic fields. Tree
salvaging would be maximized.

Mr. Schroeder - When the opportunity exists, we maintain as much tree stock as possible. For
example, on Sunwood Drive, we put trees in all along both sides of the road.

Jan Reiter - No houses in Outlot B?

Mr. Schroeder - We could have some - but not a lot. One developer I talked to today asked rne
what our preferences were. I showed him what I thought might be reasonable. There are 23 rural
lots along our property and what I showed him was 23 homes. They may propose more but that's
what we will be suggesting.

John C. Peterson - They would sort of match up with the adjacent property then.

Tom Gamec - What's the setbacks.

Mr. Schroeder - On 153rd, the right-of-way is 80 feet.

Tom Gamec - Does the City own all that property? Doesn't the second row of trees belong to
someone else?

Jan Reiter - No - (The trees don't belong to anyone else.)

Mr. Boos - The large power lines would restrict how near the homes could be also.

Jan Reiter - asked again about the buffer zone.

Mr. Schroeder - I do not know the answer to that.

Alpine Neighborhood Meeting/October 24, 1996
Page 2 of 7
