COMMISSION BUSINESS

Case ltl: Ramsey Business EXPO 1996.

Commissioner Stafki attended the Ramsey Lions organizational meeting for the Community
Picnic on March 7, 1996. At that meeting, the Lions requested the two events be combined.
Their schedule will be similar to last year with the main event starting at 3:30 and running until
9:00 p.m. During the day, RYAA will also be conducting a baseball tournament.

Chairperson Wagner inquired as to the possibility of moving the start time of the main event
earlier to coincide more with the start of the Business EXPO.

Mr. Gromberg offered to contact the Lions to see if this would be an option. There will also be a
run/walk in the park conducted in the morning.

The Lions also requested that as with last years event, the EDC cover a part of the cost of the
satellite facilities. They suggested that the EXPO be moved closer to the concession stand to
allow for a better flow of traffic. The Lions also voiced some concern about the sale of food at
the Business EXPO as they use their food sales to help fund their activities throughout the year.
The EDC understands this concern; however, they would be leery about restricting the businesses
that may be involved in the activities. If this continues to be an issue, the EDC will work with
the Lions to arrive at a mutually agreeable solution.

Commissioner Kent suggested placing information about the EXPO in the next issue of the
Business Newsletter. He also suggested getting the next issue delivered as close to April 1 as
possible.

Chairperson Wagner suggested using pictures in the brochure this year, but questioned how they
would turn out by using a commercial printer.

Mr. Gromberg provided copies of a recent newsletter that included pictures. The EDC agreed
that pictures should be included in the brochure.

Commissioner Kent volunteered to help develop the brochure for direct mailing.

Commissioner Roff informed the EDC that she attended the March 12 City Council meeting to
request the $2,000 in seed funds for the EXPO. This funding was granted by the City Council
and will be available for use in the event. Mr. Gromberg will make provisions for the City to
transfer the funds to the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce as in past years for distribution.

Based upon discussion, the 1996 Business EXPO will be conducted on June 1, 1996, at Central
Park. Mr. Gromberg was further directed to arrange the reservation of the tent and booths in a
similar fashion as last year.

Economic Development Commission/March 14, 1996
Page 2 of 4
