Members Present:
The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at
the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.
Also Present:
CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
Mayor Bob Ramsey
Councilmember Randy Backous
Councilmember David Elvig
Councilmember Colin McGlone
Councilmember Sarah Strommen
Councilmember Jason Tossey
Councilmember Jeffrey Wise
City Administrator Kurtis Ulrich
Deputy City Administrator Heidi A. Nelson
Public Works Director Brian Olson
Fire Chief Dean Kapler
Police Chief James Way
Finance Officer Diana Lund
City Attorney William Goodrich
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Ramsey called the City Council Work Session to order at 6:27 p.m.
2. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION
It was noted that the fire station replacement discussion would be held first.
2.03: Feasibility Study — Fire Station #2 Replacement
City Administrator Ulrich stated that we had this item on the last work session for discussion but
we only had a brief time to talk about it. The architect was at the last meeting as well; however,
he is not here this evening. Staff would like to be able to spend some time on this topic this
evening. Staff was directed to perform a feasibility study for the cost and other details needed to
replace the current Fire Station #2 located at 15153 Nowthen Boulevard. The BKV group was
contracted to create some basic plans for discussion, which are attached to the case for this
evening. This is a concept — we are not making any move until we sell the whole property. This
building was downscaled to meet the $2.5 million in the budget. This project will not move
forward until there is money on the front end from the sale of the land. We just wanted to show
Council some type of design.
City Council Work Session / April 3, 2012
Page 1 of 10
