This Airport Commission was formed by Council
to look at what the possibilities would be as far as deVelopment
of an airport in the City of Ramsey on the site of the existing
facility. Gateway North is currently a public use/privately
owned f~ci%ity and this Commission is exploring the possibility
of making that facility a municipal airport with the'City acquiring
property and operation of it, The City has zetained engineering
and consulting fi~ms that are coordinating with agencies in State
and Fede~al government to determine minimum requirements necessary
to obtaih State and Fedezal funding. So far, this Commission has
identified ~those requi,rements an~ developed a preliminary Airport
Layout Plan based on State and Federal crlterza', Tonzght~ we
are simply ~nveiling that plan and soliciting public comments~
we will ~then submit these plans and public comments to the
appropriiate agencies foz their input. Pre%iminazy cost estimates
and forecast of useage have been p~epared and now, the Cormnission
is going' to tzy and determine if there 'is a compatible situation
to obt~i~ funding and decide whether the economic return and
benefit to the City would be worth 'the cost eXpended,

Mr. Larr~ Koshak - Stated that the Airport 'Master ~lan is m
combinat%on' of data and plans that are compiled on this p~9.poa~d
airport site. The 'Airport Layout Plan is a sheet showing the
physical~ aspects of the airport facility~

AP/August 22, 1984 Public Meeting
