Regular Council Meeting <br />October 12, 1976 <br /> <br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Ramsey City Council was held on October 12, 1976, <br />at Ramsey Elementary School, 15000 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota <br />55303 <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Cox <br />Councilman Gorham <br />Councilman Mickelson <br />Councilwoman Oliphant <br />Councilman Reimann <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Acting Clerk Peddycoart <br />Attorney Goodrich <br />Engineer Sha <br /> <br />Mayor Cox called the regular meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox announced that architect firms for the new municipal center under <br />EDA funding had been interviewed prior to the regular meeting. <br /> <br />Approval of Agenda. <br />Motion by Gorham, seconded by Mickelson to accept the October 12, 1976, Council <br /> <br /> Carried 5 Ayes <br /> <br />Motion by Reimann, seconded by Cox to adjourn at ll:O0 P.M. tonight. <br /> Carried 5 Ayes <br /> <br />Citizen Input. <br />Mayor Cox asked for citizen input and said comments are restricted to two minutes <br />each. <br /> <br />Mrs. Drexler, 6505 162nd Avenue N.W., said she is a nature enthusiast and <br />congratulated Council for having ordinances protecting nature. However, with so <br />many signs being put up in the City for campaigning, and the sign ordinance <br />being 4 X 6 feet maximum, she thinks that campaign signs should conform to the <br />ordinance. Some signs are an eyesore. On Highway 47 and 167 there is one obstructing <br />traffic. She said one of the themes in government this year seems to be integrity <br />and this integrity should be shown by following City ordinances. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox replied that he knew which sign she is referring to and accepted it <br />and will take care of the complaint. He said he agreed with her and had checked <br />with the store proprietor and was advised by citizens and he is pleased to see <br />she is a nature lover. <br /> <br />Mr. Donald Walker, 17600 Argon Street N.W., said he has a rather difficult <br />question tied to his receiving food stamps and wondered if any one on the <br />Council received questions on the status of his last check. He said it has been <br />reported to him that this was ridiculed at Mayor Cox's station. <br /> <br />Mayor Cox said whoever told him that was absolutely false. The document was <br />in regard to unemployment. <br /> <br />Mr. Walker asked why would he show someone that at his place of business. <br /> <br /> <br />
