March 13, 2014
Tuesday, March 18, 2014
Please Note: The City Council Work Session and the Public Works
Committee meetings have been canceled.
Preview of Next Week
Council Update
Great River Energy Transmission Line Project. If you have driven along Bunker Lake
Boulevard near Highway 47 /Saint Francis Boulevard recently, you may have noticed several
power line structures being erected. The City has experienced an increase in the number of
inquiries about this project since a number of the transmission line poles have been set along
Bunker Lake Boulevard.
In 2012, the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved a 115 -kV transmission line through the
cities of Ramsey, Anoka, and Coon Rapids to connect two existing sub - stations in order to increase
capacity and reliability. Following easement acquisition, Great River Energy began initial
construction in 2013.
For more information on the project, please visit www.cityoframsey /GRE. The webpage includes
a link to Great River Energy's project page that includes more detailed information. Feel free to
direct questions my way for follow up.
Below: a sample photo of a recently installed transmission line pole.
