There is the possibility that the cash collection could
be forced onto the City which would require modifications to our procedures as well as the
Society's.

Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to recommend
authorizing the City Administrator and Police Chief to enter into and sign the contract for animal
control services to be provided by North Metro Humane Society.

Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Peterson and
Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

Case #2: Authorize Budget Amendment to Purchase Fire Department Lock
Boxes for Resale to Local Businesses

Fire Chief Kapler explained that if each business in the City of Ramsey purchased a lock box, it
would contain a key and other pertinent fire information to the building so as to prevent as much
damage as possible to that building when the Fire Department is gaining entry during an
emergency. The lock boxes would be purchased by the City and resold to existing and new

Finance Committee/August 27, 1996
