FINANCE COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Finance Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, August 27, 1996, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Glen Hardin <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Jessie Hart <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Police Chief Mike Auspos <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson called the regular meeting of the Finance Committee to order at 5:33 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />Case #1.: <br /> <br />Authorize Entering into Contract with North Metro Humane Society <br />for Animal Control Services <br /> <br />Police Chief Auspos stated that the North Metro Humane Society (formerly Greater Anoka County <br />Humane Society) is the only option to provide animal control services to the citizens of Ramsey. <br />He anticipated that before the next renewal period, there will be talk regarding the Society's <br />policies and practices pertaining to billings. There is the possibility that the cash collection could <br />be forced onto the City which would require modifications to our procedures as well as the <br />Society's. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to recommend <br />authorizing the City Administrator and Police Chief to enter into and sign the contract for animal <br />control services to be provided by North Metro Humane Society. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Beahen, Peterson and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Authorize Budget Amendment to Purchase Fire Department Lock <br /> Boxes for Resale to Local Businesses <br /> <br />Fire Chief Kapler explained that if each business in the City of Ramsey purchased a lock box, it <br />would contain a key and other pertinent fire information to the building so as to prevent as much <br />damage as possible to that building when the Fire Department is gaining entry during an <br />emergency.
