FINANCE COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Finance Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, May 24, 1994, <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Memb~emnt: <br /> <br />Mayor James Gilbertson (arrived 6:15 p.m.) <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Glen Hardin <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Jessie Hart <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson called the regular Finance Committee to order at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Case #1: Approval of Park Development Budget in the Sunny Ponds <br /> Subdivision <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos stated that the proposed park plan and budget for the park <br />in Sunny Ponds subdivision is similar to that of Emerald Pond and Riverdale Park. Mr. <br />Boos stated that the residents of the subdivision chose the development plan and prioritized <br />the items they desired. He added that the neighborhood residents volunteered labor to "buy <br />down" the cost of the improvements. Mr. Boos asked that the Finance Committee also <br />recommend that Council adopt the name "Solstice Park" for this Prairie Park District <br />neighborhood park. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer stated she likes the park plan, but does not like the name Solstice <br />Park. She stated that the park naming policy is to name the parks after their subdivisions. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos stated that the policy reads as follows: "Parks shall be named after the <br />subdivision that contains them or after significant natural or geographical features". He <br />reported that the City has not named any park after the subdivision for many years as <br />problems have been experienced with subdivision named parks.
