PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Par_g and Recreation Commission conducted a regular meeting on Thursday, October <br />15, 1992 at ~the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson Ronald Hetland <br />Commissioner Jacki Florentius <br />Commissioner James Gookin <br />Commissioner Janice Johnson <br />Commissioner Jay Swokowski <br /> <br />Members Absentl <br /> <br />Commissioner Todd Cook <br />Commissioner Jill Prall <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />CALL TO' ORDER <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Coordinator Mark Boos <br /> <br />Chairperson; Hetland called the Park and Recreation meeting to order at 7:14 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />Motion by COmmissioner Swokowski and seconded by Commissioner Johnson to approve the <br />Park and RecreatIon Commission Capital Improvements Workshop minutes dated July 23, 1992. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Hetland, Commissioners Swokowski, Johnson, <br />Gookin and/Florcntius. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Cook and Prall. <br /> <br />COMMIS$IOI~I BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Review County Road #116 Bike and Pedestrian Transportation Trail. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilit!es Coordinator Boos stated the Cities of Anoka and Ramsey and, to an extent, <br />Andover haye .begn concerned with bike and pedestrian traffic, particularly around the intersection <br />of County Road gl 16 and State Highway #47. We have learned that the Metropolitan Council's <br />TransportatiOn P~dvisory Board is requesting, proposals for bicycle and walkway projects. Mr. <br />Boos adde6Ithe Cities of Anoka and Ramsey s trail proposal would link the Anoka Senior High <br />School, Riv~er's Bend Park and Anoka via a trail adjacent to State Highway #47, then westerly <br />along CouniY ROAd #116 to Dysprosium Street N.W. and Thurston Street. From this intersection <br />one could go sooth to the Anoka Technical College or the Mississippi River area or north on <br />Dysprosiun~ S~treCt N.W. to the Flintwood Terrace Park trail. From this trail to the north would be <br />additional t/~ll d~velopment funded by the grant. This leg would link Flintwood Terrace north to <br />the Ramsey~'Elementary School. He informed the Commission that the deadline for submittal for <br />these funds'~is Nbvember 2, 1992 and that Staff would like to receive the Park and Recreation <br />Commission's endorsement. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Gookin and seconded by Commissioner Swokowski to proceed with <br />pathway funding'rrequest. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/October 15, <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br />1992 <br /> <br /> <br />
