BUDGET COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Budget Committee conducted a meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 1991 at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Glen Hardin <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator/Finance Officer Sandra Ashley Helling <br />Personnel Coordinator Kay McAloney <br />Public Works Supervisor Merle Mevissen <br />Parks/Utilities Coordinator Mark Boos <br />Fire Chief David Griff'm <br />Community Education Coordinator Claudia Dodge <br />Community Education Steve Kerr <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Peterson called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Fire Chief Griffin was present and asked to be put on as Case #4 to discuss some of the safety <br />related items the Fire Department needs to purchase. <br /> <br />Consensus was to approve the agenda as amended. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Community Education <br /> <br />Mrs. Helling introduced Steve Kerr, Community Education and stated that he is present to answer <br />questions regarding a community education plan that would not involve funding from the City. <br /> <br />Mr. Kerr presented a proposal for the basic service. He explained that the basic service doesn't <br />include summer programming and there are presently 85 preschool and youth programs and using <br />the basic service would cut it down to 39. He stated that the City can buy up to different levels of <br />service. He explained the reason for the cutback in some cities is lack of funding, not <br />dissatisfaction with Community Education services. <br /> <br />Claudia Dodge explained the level of services the City has right now for Community Education and <br />stated it would be difficult for the City to go from the level it is at right now to a bare minimum. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hardin inquired of Mr. Kerr what it would cost to be at the level the City is at right <br />now. <br /> <br />Mr. Kerr replied he would figure that out according to the services wanted and he would come <br />back to a meeting with the information. <br /> <br />Budget Committee/May 28, 1991 <br /> Page I of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
