CITY COUNCIL <br />INFORMATIONAL MEETING <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a public informational meeting on Tuesday, July 11, <br />1989 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota <br />regarding the proposed alignments for 153rd Avenue N.W. between County Road No. 5 <br />and County Road No. 56. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember Richard Cich <br />Councilmember Alan Pearson <br />Councilmember Stephen F. DeLuca <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator David Hartley <br />City Engineer Peter Raatikka <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The informational meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that the City is responding to the need for east/west corridors through <br />the City by studying the extension of 153rd Avenue N.W. Three possible alignments have <br />been identified. It is expected that at their regular meeting on July 11, City Council will <br />select one of those alignments as the preferred route for which an Environmental <br />Assessment Worksheet (EAW) will be prepared. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that on the western end of the proposed extension of 153rd Avenue, <br />there are 3 possible alignments (lA, lB and lC on Attachment 1); on the eastern end of the <br />extension, there are 2 possible alignments (2A and 2B on Attachment 1). Another <br />alignment that would have followed the power line easement was considered but DNR and <br />Mn/DOT both disapproved of it. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka presented the following overheads: Summary of Costs (see Attachment 2); <br />Ranking of Impact (see Attachment 3); Estimated Schedule (see Attachment 4). <br /> <br />CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> <br />Viola Tripp - 15506 Hematite Street N.W. - Inquired as to why DNR is opposed to <br />aligning 153rd along the power line easement. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka replied that there are protected wetlands along the power line easement and <br />DNR does not want to split the wetlands in two. <br /> <br />City Council Informational Meeting/July 11, 1989 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
