CITY COUNCIL <br />BUDGET COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council Budget Committee met on Wednesday, September 13, 1989 at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Stephen F. DeLuca <br />Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator David Hartley <br />Finance Officer Sandra Ashley <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The Budget Committee meeting was called to order at 4:40 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Review Of Community Education Program: <br /> <br />With regards to the City's desire to have the Fred Moore Junior High/Sandburg Middle School <br />athletic activity buses extend service to Sandburg community education program participants 5 <br />nights a week, Mr. Hartley reported that he did talk with Ron Mitchell and it appears that those <br />activity buses are specifically for athletic programs and full to capacity; regular acitivty bus service <br />will not increase at Sandburg beyond 2 nights a week. <br /> <br />Mr. Dennis Carlson, Director of Anoka Hennepin Community Education Program, stated that he <br />will do some further research regarding activity bus service at Sandburg. <br /> <br />Claudia Dodge, Ramsey Community Education Director, was present and reviewed the proposed <br />1990 budget including a breakdown of revenues by City, School District and participation fees. <br /> <br />Claudia Dodge then review the number of programs offered and enrollment figures for the past <br />year. <br /> <br />Claudia Dodge then gave a status report on the Key Communicator Program indicating that there <br />are now 34 neighborhoods organized in Ramsey. Then crime bulletins have issued, in addition to <br />information on recycling, Arbor Day, woodchipping, etc. Claudia noted that the Key <br />Communicator has improved communications with Ramsey residents in the Elk River School <br />District. <br /> <br />Mr. Dennis Carlson briefly reviewed the organizational structure and the proposed 1989/1990 <br />community education budget for the Anoka Hennepin School District. Mr. Carlson noted that out <br />of the 4.5 million dollar community education budget, cities provide $484,000 in community <br />schools and $108,000 in summer programs. <br /> <br />Budget Committee/September 13, 1989 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
