PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A special meeting of the Ramsey City Council was held on Monday, January 24, <br />1983 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember Jeanne Schlueter <br />Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br />Councilmember Sue Van Wagner <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br />City Building Official Clayton Berg <br />City Engineer Peter Raatikka <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the special meeting to order at 7:45 P.M. Mayor Gamec led <br />in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the purpose of this special meeting is to familiarize <br />the members of various Ramsey commissions with what is currently happening in <br />Ramsey and to obtain some feedback from the various commission members present. <br /> <br />The following subjects were discussed: <br /> <br />1. State Aids - "Ramsey Resident" Newsletter - <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that Ramsey is trying to get it's fair share of local aids <br />and has filed a law suite against the State of Minnesota. He further stated <br />that the City will not get into the depth of the law suit until after the <br />legislative session. Mayor Gamec also stated that the League of Minnesota <br />Cities is becoming more involved and the City has received some financial aid <br />from other cities in the State. He also commented that the status of the law <br />suit will be published in the form of a newsletter which will be sent to all <br />the various commission members in Ramsey. The public and business persons in <br />Ramsey will be kept up to date by means of the "Ramsey Resident." <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec then explained all the various subjects that will be covered by <br />the "Ramsey Resident." Mayor Gamec requested Mr. Schnelle to be sure that <br />all commission members, especially those who do not reside in Ramsey, are <br />receiving copies of the "Ramsey Resident." <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann questioned who authorized the savings bond as a prize <br />for naming the Ramsey newspaper. <br /> <br />Councilmember Van Wagner stated that there was no actual authorizati~on, that <br />the savings bond was paid for by monies received from advertisement fees in <br />the "Ramsey Resident." Councilmember Van Wagner also stated that legal notices <br />cannot be published in the "Ramsey Resident, that they must be published in a <br />legal newspaper and the "Ramsey Resident" is classified as a newsletter. <br /> <br />Sp C/January 24, 1983 <br /> Page I of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
