PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was held on Thursday <br />March 20, 1986 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd., N.W., <br />Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />M~MBERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Dennis Donovan, Chairman <br />Marleen Looyen <br />Janice Johnson <br />Ron Hetland <br />Don Lokker <br /> <br />ABSENT: John Lichter <br /> Bill Rustad <br /> <br />ALSO PRESENT: <br /> <br />Steve DeLuca, Vice President of the Ramsey Economic Development <br />Company and Claudia Dodge, Ramsey Community School <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The Meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. by Chairman Donovan. <br /> <br />The minutes were read and approved with an update on the ice rink situation <br />made by Chairman Donovan. It was suggested that a contract agreement be <br />worked out with Merle. Mevissen for next year rather that approaching the City <br />Council with the problem. Motion by Commissioner Looyen to approve the <br />minutes seconded by Commission Lokker. Motion carried. <br /> <br />CASE #1: Appearance by Mr. Steve Deluca, Vice President of the Ramse¥ <br /> Economic Development Company. <br /> <br />Steve Deluca made a presentation of his companies goals. Their <br />goal is to promote Ramsey. Non-profit organization, have sold <br />about 2,000 shares to date. Plan to sell up to 50,000 shares. <br />Shares are sold to promote income with which information will be <br />provided to various sources to promote Ramsey. A pamphlet has <br />already been produced, copies were shown the Commission. Chairman <br />Donovan complimented Steve on a job nicely done. <br /> <br />They are seeking participation from the City Council and Parkboard <br />Commission. shares are selling for $25.00 each - purchase of stock <br />entitles voting rights. Monthly meetings at City Hall - 1st Thursday <br />of each month. The company is incorporated and is a separate body <br />from the Ramsey Economic Commission. <br /> <br />CASE #2: Designation of Recreation Trail in Critical Rivers Corridor: <br /> <br />Ann Norris explained the trail designation requirements and indicated <br />posJible trail and alternate route on map. A discussion followed as <br />to specific plans - trail would be non-motorized, hiking, biking and <br />Cross Country Sk$. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Looyen to endorse trail as recommended.by <br />the city, seconded by Commissioner Lokker - motion passed. <br /> <br /> <br />
