REGULAR RAMSEY CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> February 18, 1975 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, Mr. Cox. Present <br />were Mr. Gorham, Mr. Reimann, Mr. Mickels6n and Mrs. Oliphant. <br />Mr. Steffens was also present. Mr. Goodrich was on vacation. <br /> <br />Mr. Cox asked if anyone in the audience had any questions or com- <br />ments to make. There were no comments from the audience. <br /> <br />Discussion of the agenda. <br />as amended for Feb. 18th. <br />tied unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Reimann moved we accept the agenda <br />Seconded by Mr. Gorham. Motion car- <br /> <br />Treasurer's report. This will be out in a week or two by the com- <br />puter. Mr. Cox read a short report from Mrs. Anderson. <br /> <br />Planning & Zoning report was given by Mr. Sorteberg. He stated <br />a sketch plan would be coming in to the next meeting on another <br />shopping center between Hys. #5 and #47. The Planning and Zoning <br />Ordinance will come up at the next Council meeting. <br /> <br />Fire & Police Committee: Mr. Edward Norell brought in a report <br />from this committee and read it to the Council. Total cost for <br />the police would be $31,675. The cities they had questioned on <br />police matters stated that they wanted police protection and not <br />just apprehension. Other cities feel they would not have much <br />control over their police depsrtment if it was contracted out. <br />Sheriff's contract cost was $60,000 for a 16 hour day. Mr. Norell <br />had visited with Mr. Oberstar in Washington and he had said he <br />would like a letter from this city and when he receives that, he <br />would try to get us whatever help is available. <br /> <br />Mr. Reimann suggested we check into funds available for help for <br />a volunteer fire department. Mr. Tom Persons asked some questions <br />about the report on police and fire department organization. He <br />said he had seen a second hand tanker with hoses, etc. for $~,500. <br />Mr. Gorham said he thought the Committee was working in the right <br />direction and headed in the right way. Mr. Gorhammoved we accept <br />the Police and Fire Committee report proposal and authorize Mr. <br />Mike Auspos to send Mr. Robert Hansel to school at the direction <br />of the Council of Ramsey. Seconded by Mr. Reimann. Motion car- <br />ried unanimously. <br /> <br />Licensing Ordinance: Discussion on vehicle repair business. Mr. <br />Mickelson moved Mr. Gorham and Mr. Reimann review this part of the <br />ordinance and bring it to the March meeting. Seconded by Mrs. <br />Oliphant. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Change Dates for Council Meetings: Mr. Steffens suggested we sus- <br />pend Sec. i of Ordinance No. 7&-5 for the month of March. Mr. Cox <br />said at this time it would be in order to entertain a motion to <br />set the dates for the March meetings. Mr. Gorham said the school <br /> <br /> <br />
