PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> CITY OF P~%~EY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Ramsey City Council was held ohM arch 11, 1980, <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota <br />55303. <br /> <br />Meu~ers Present: Mayor Gamec Also Present: City Adm. Schnelle <br /> Councilman Sorteberg City Attorney Goodrich <br /> Councilman Mickelson City Engineer Raatikka <br /> Councilman Cox (arrived 7:50 P.M.) <br />Member Absent: Coomcilman Reimann <br />Mayor Gamee called the meeting to order at 7:37 P.M. and led the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />1) Bob Roden was present to discuss the Anoka County Wide Development Day. <br />He stated its purpose was to show interested people the benefits of all of <br />Anoka County. The program will be held on June 5, 1980 and is being spon- <br />sored by the three major Anoka County Chambers of Commerce. The sponsors are <br />asking all the Cities and Townships in the County to participate by setting <br />up a public relations booth in which can be shown the development virtues <br />of each municipality and to staff the booth with municipal representatives <br />who can then answer questions and inquiries. Each municipality is also being <br />asked 'to contribute $100 to defray the expense of the program. The $100 will <br />also include lunch tickets for two persons at Majestic Oaks on the day of the <br />program. <br /> <br />Mr. Roden also gave an update of the Anoka State Hospital situation and what <br />progress the committee he is on is making toward solving the problem there. <br /> <br />2) George Diemert, 8221 - 151st Lane N.W. was present and asked about the <br />renewal of his greenhouse conditional use permit. He was referred to the <br />staff and no other action was taken. <br /> <br />3) Les Batman, 14141 Flourine Street was present requesting the Council's <br />opinion of his plan to build a still in order to manufacture alcohol for <br />gasahol. He proposed that the still be built at his residence. The Council <br />reviewed a rough sketch of the plans for the still. The Council expressed <br />serious concerns for the storage of such a flammable fuel in a residential <br />district. The Cotuncilmembers all agreed that unless more convincing infor- <br />mation was presented Ramsey would not permit such a use in a residential <br />district because of the fire and explosion hazard. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />Discussion of the Bloom condemnation was to be added as Item #8 under "New <br />Business." <br /> <br />C/March 11, 1980 <br /> Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />
