BOARD OF REVIEW City of Ramsey Anoka County State of Minnesota A meeting of the Board of Review for the City of Ramsey was duly held on the 12th day of May, 1980 at 7:00 p.m., at the Ramsey Municipal Center 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. Present: Mayor Gamec Councilman Sorteberg Countilman Reimann Councilman Cox Also Present: Assessor, Lester Wirz County Assessor Ed Thurston County Assessor Bob Weisbrich City Administrator Schnelle Absent: Councilman Mickelson Mayor Gamec called the Board of Review meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mayor Gamec asked for questions and concerns from the audience. Mr. Ralph Elofson, 6545 Highway 10, Plat 989324, Parcel %5910 He questioned the increase in the estimated market value from $40,900 to $60,600. He said he felt it was too much. He said there were no improvements made or anything and in the last three years it went up $40,000. Assessor Wirz said the location of the lot has a lot to do with it and that he goes by recent land sales to come up with the value. Mr. Elofson said he felt the increase was ridiculous and would add to inflation. He said he did not have sewer and water and it is way over what he paid for it. He asked what the taxes would be on it. Assessor Wirz said the taxes are $39.64/thousand or approximately $2,400.25. Councilman Cox stated he felt the regional taxes in commercial areas are excessive. Assessor Wirz said if commercial would get the breaks that homeowners get, there wouldn't be a problem. There is no set limit now and this is a State situation. Councilman Cox said the recession has been going on since last summer for the people in Ramsey. Mayor Gamec asked what percent the Council would want to reduce everybody. City Administrator Schnelle said the recession has hit and the people can't sell property.
