BOARD OF REVIEW <br /> City of Ramsey <br />Anoka County <br />State of Minnesota <br /> <br />A meeting of the Board of Review for the City of Ramsey was duly held <br />on the 12th day of May, 1980 at 7:00 p.m., at the Ramsey Municipal Center <br />15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota 55303. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilman Sorteberg <br />Countilman Reimann <br />Councilman Cox <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Assessor, Lester Wirz <br />County Assessor Ed Thurston <br />County Assessor Bob Weisbrich <br />City Administrator Schnelle <br /> <br />Absent: Councilman Mickelson <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the Board of Review meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. and led <br />in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked for questions and concerns from the audience. <br /> <br />Mr. Ralph Elofson, 6545 Highway 10, Plat 989324, Parcel %5910 <br />He questioned the increase in the estimated market value from $40,900 <br />to $60,600. He said he felt it was too much. He said there were no <br />improvements made or anything and in the last three years it went up <br />$40,000. <br /> <br />Assessor Wirz said the location of the lot has a lot to do with it and <br />that he goes by recent land sales to come up with the value. <br /> <br />Mr. Elofson said he felt the increase was ridiculous and would add to inflation. <br />He said he did not have sewer and water and it is way over what he paid for it. <br />He asked what the taxes would be on it. <br /> <br />Assessor Wirz said the taxes are $39.64/thousand or approximately $2,400.25. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox stated he felt the regional taxes in commercial areas are <br />excessive. <br /> <br />Assessor Wirz said if commercial would get the breaks that homeowners get, <br />there wouldn't be a problem. There is no set limit now and this is a State <br />situation. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox said the recession has been going on since last summer for <br />the people in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec asked what percent the Council would want to reduce everybody. <br /> <br />City Administrator Schnelle said the recession has hit and the people can't <br />sell property.
