PROCEEDINGS OF THE <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Chairman Donald Greenberg called the regular meeting of the Ramsey Economic <br />Development Commission to order at 8:10 A.M. at the Ramsey Municipal Center, <br />15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Donald Greenberg <br />Robert Muller (arrived at 8:33 A.M.) <br />Jack Menkveld (arrived at 8:28 A.M.) <br />Astrid Guy <br />Stephen Schmidt <br />Darryl Fults <br />Jack Schneider <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Darrell Jensen <br />Bill Miller <br />Joe Sentryz <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br />Councilman Arnie Cox <br /> <br />There were several business persons from Ramsey present at this meeting and <br />Chairman Greenberg stated that the purpose of this meeting is to inform the <br />business community of Ramsey of the Economic Development Corporation. <br />Chairman Greenberg then introduced the Economic Development Committee members <br />that were present to the audience. Persons in the audience introduced <br />themselves to the Committee. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg stated that the Economic Development Commission was <br />established in January of 1982 to further economic development in the City <br />of Ramsey, more or less to be a go-between between the business community, <br />the City and City Council. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg commented that the first item on the agenda is a presenta- <br />tion by Mayor Gamec of Landfill. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec - In the next 2-6 years, the Economic Development Commission will <br />be one of the most important committees in the City, especially since we <br />are getting into sewer and water improvements. One of the most important <br />objectives is to move in or relocate businesses to the Southeast corner of <br />Ramsey. One of the most important issues that the City is going to be <br />dealing with is the Landfill. It will always be a problem, and the City is <br />currently trying to work out a solution as far as ownership goes. There <br />has been a meeting with City of Anoka and County Attorney George Steiner <br />to discuss liability. Another problem is ground water pollution. There is <br />no problem with pollution at this time, but we have to be very careful to <br />protect ourselves against it. Another item discussed at the meeting with <br />the County Attorney was Site P. Metro Council adopted Map A (Copies of <br />this map were available for audience review) which is area south of present <br />landfill.
