PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning Commission conducted a regular meeting on Thursday, May 2, 2002, at <br />the Ramsey Fire Station #2, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson Michael Nixt <br />Commissioner Ralph Brauer <br />Commissioner Robert Johnson <br />Commissioner Bill Kociscak <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik <br />Principal Planner Patrick Trudgeon <br />Assistant Planner Megan Wald <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Commissioner Michael Reeve <br />Commissioner Kathleen Sweet <br />Commissioner Eric Watson <br /> <br />INFORMAL DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Prior to the Board of Adjustment meeting being called to order an informal discussion between <br />Planning Commissioners present and the audience took place. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson noted the meeting would start when they had a quorum. He asked if <br />there was any citizen input that could be made prior to the official start of the meeting. <br /> <br />Joe McDilda, 14321 Neon St. NW, stated he represented Ramsey P.O.N.D.S. which is an <br />organization monitoring wetlands and other natural environments in Ramsey. He showed <br />pictures of wetlands near some of the properties being considered for rezoning tonight. He also <br />showed pictures of the land being developed as The Ponds subdivision. He explained the trees <br />on the development property consisted of red and white oak, elm and other wetland types of <br />shrubs and trees. He said the trees had been cleared out in two days. he also displayed a picture <br />of a pile of wood chips to demonstrate the end result of cutting trees. He noted in this area, only <br />12 trees were saved. He said he lives across from that area, and witnessed the removal of the <br />trees. He contended that much isn't done to preserve wetlands. <br /> <br />A citizen residing at 164th Avenue and the Golf Course questioned if the rezoning is a completed <br />issue. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson explained that it is not complete.
